For Deanna and this past year

For Deanna

I took this photo on 10/27/2011.  It’s cropped a little, but not “photo shopped”.  It feels unnatural to me to use digital tools and attempt to change what the world has given us.

This is your flower, Deanna, one you planted this year along your sidewalk.

It is beautiful, and something very beautiful did happen this year, you named her Sophia Rose.

It is not a perfect flower though, and life is not perfect. The raindrops seem somewhat as tear drops, knowing those flowed this year also.

Tears of fear for Keith, a life lesson where we learn what is truly important.

Tears for Sadie and other canines we have grown to love have crossed the rainbow bridge.

And tears will still likely flow.  That first day, when Mom goes back to work, I still remember those tears from 27 years ago….

Let this flower remind us all.  While life can be hard, we should never stop planting flowers.  Nothing is perfect, not even the flowers, yet look how beautiful we can make it.

My House, Where Love Is Patient

I received this thank you card from one of the churches where I gave a panda presentation.

I wrote this on August 27,2011 right before Hurricane Irene was to hit our Jersey shores.  It was left as a draft, I forgot to publish it.  All part of the confusion and forgetfulness I experienced after falling down my stairs earlier that week.  Part of the bannister broke off.

It’s still my house though, and the broken bannister has been fixed!

Love is patient

The 1992 BMS CHILDRENS ART SHOW

“Draw us a picture of what you think your mom or dad does all day long at work.”

A picture IS worth a million words

Well, I’m glad my son didn’t have his mom on the airplane that looks like it is about to crash.

This Is Your Monet

THIS IS YOUR MONET

Once a year at

ART ALL NIGHT

anyone can be an artist.

For four years this event has been held in Trenton, NJ.   I have always brought something down, usually just to display.  Last year I did something different.  While traveling through China I captured some very good photos of the panda bears.  I printed one of them and framed it in bamboo (because panda bears eat bamboo).

It sold and I donated half of the sales back to the non-profit art organization who sponsors this event.  ART ALL NIGHT just keeps getting bigger and better!

“This is your Monet” is a photo I took locally at Grounds For Sculpture.  In its more ornate frame, sized 15″ x 17″,  it will be my ART ALL NIGHT fifth submission.  This too, 50% of the sales will be donated back.

And all those panda bears?  I framed a whole lot more in bamboo.  They are on display now, in June, at the Ewing Library.  They too will benefit another non-profit organization, and they are selling!

Someone asked if the pandas were from the Philadelphia Zoo! NO!
